Humanity and Salvation New Age philosophy teaches that man is inherently good, spiritually evolving, and capable of being his own savior. Enlightenment is reportedly achieved by experiencing one’s “own divinity” through altered states of consciousness, meditation, psychic readings, and spirit guides. Conversely, Christianity teaches that humanity is basically sinful and unable to correct its own evil. Spiritual rebirth (being “born again”) comes not from self-improvement, but by acknowledging one’s sinfulness, recognizing the need for a Savior, and making a conscious choice to follow Jesus Christ.
